I Just Bought PianoStore.com

Nov 26, 2025

Every so often, a domain shows up on GoDaddy Auctions that makes you stop what you’re doing. For me, that happened this week when PianoStore.com appeared in the expired section. I kept watching it, checking the age, the history, the keyword, and the whole time I had that feeling: This one is worth chasing.

The domain was originally registered back in 1996, which is the first thing that grabbed my attention. I’ve always loved old domains. There’s something about a name that’s been online for almost 30 years: it tells you the keyword has real staying power and that the domain has trust built into it. You don’t see many clean, commercial .coms from the mid-90s hit the market anymore.

What really sold me is how simple and clear the name is. PianoStore.com doesn’t need an explanation. It’s a real business category with real buyers, retailers, teachers, tuning companies, movers, rental shops, online sellers, even manufacturers. Anyone in the piano business would instantly see the value. These are the types of domains I like the most: names that speak for themselves.

I ended up winning the auction for $3,005, and honestly, I feel like that’s a strong buy for a name like this. In my view, PianoStore.com has a retail value of $30K to $50K+, depending on the buyer.

I’m happy to add this one to my portfolio. If the right buyer or partnership comes along, great. If not, it’s the kind of name I’m perfectly fine holding. Some domains just feel solid the moment you acquire them, and PianoStore.com is one of those.

This was a fun win.
